This place is a must go to if you like Ramen or shrimp tempura or gyoza, etcetera. The spring rolls were fantastic as well but we will be back here for sure. Very authentic and great service and food!

It is without exaggeration that I say this is my favorite restaurant in the Charlotte area. You can tell the level of care and detail the food is consistently prepared with. Everything is always just right, from the house made salad dressing, to the breading on the pork, even down to the ramen being just the right thickness and consistency. The servers are always prompt and courteous and the portions are always generous too. I genuinely can’t recommend this place enough, I just wish they were open on Tuesdays.

I never rate or give reviews, but with Mr Tokyo and nakato who are both on Pineville-Matthews road, it shouldnt get overlooked that behind them just 2 minutes away is musashi Japanese restaurant that deserves recognition and people should try. I called in an order for a chicken katsu bento for pick up, not even asking what’s all included or price as it didn’t say on their website, just expecting the standard small chicken katsu portion over some rice, 4 piece nothing special California rolls, maybe a tiny spring roll or couple tempura veggies you’d get from most restaurants maybe around $15. Well I walked inside to pick it up, they set the bag with my order in front of me to ring me up at $27…that bag had a lot more than that “standard” I didn’t even ask what all was in the bag just paid and went home. Shouldve taken a picture, but It’s well worth the $27 as it included a box with a good sized cut and perfectly cooked katsu, freshly made California rolls, shrimp and veggie tempura, a couple delicious shumai and spring rolls, a separate box of rice, a separate box of salad and cup of miso soup. If I woulda known the quality I would’ve dined in…so i apologize for my initial assumpt

I have visited here multiple times in the past 17 years when I lived in Charlotte. Food was very authentic back then, but it changed a bit over time. And the majority of customers back then were Japanese. Or maybe there are many Japanese restaurants in Charlotte now. A recent visit is still good, even though the food has become a little more Americanized, in my opinion. Customer service is as good as it was on my first visit 17 years ago. Prices are reasonable. I would come here again when I visit Charlotte.

In a strip mall in Pineville is practically hidden a small Japanese restaurant. Really just a handful of tables, a few booths, a tatami room and a sushi bar. Our meals came out at different times. The bento boxes had an abundance of food. The nabeyaki udon was very hot, but strangely the egg never cooked. It had so many vegetables, which I liked except it took so long to get to the noodles! I suppose I could have mixed it up to get to the noodles, but I didn’t. This restaurant has quite a big following and a diverse fan base. It was a Monday night and it was full the whole time we were there! The servers were busy and efficient. My overall impression is that Musashi is a solid choice for Japanese comfort food.
